Expedition Training - The Peak District
Overview
A 1-day course for aspiring expedition mountaineers
This is an opportunity for climbers and mountaineers to come together for a day of technical expedition skills and training in readiness for your next adventure. Whether it's improving your fixed rope skills, abseiling or dealing with a crevasse rescue, we'll cover a whole host of useful hints and tips, using the rocky edges of the Peak District on the outskirts of Sheffield.Pick up and drop off is included from Sheffield Railway Station.
The day will be run by Ed Chard, Head of Operations at Jagged Globe. Ed has been leading expeditions for 25 years and will give you an informative and entertaining day out.
What we’ll aim to cover
- Harnesses and setting up personal fixed line kit
- Ascending and descending fixed lines
- Abseiling and protecting other on abseils
- Using a Prusik and setting up haul systems for crevasse rescue
- Putting up expedition tents
- Cooking expedition food (lunch!)

What the price includes
- Pick up/drop off from Sheffield Train Station if required (0900 and 1700)
- 1 days' instruction.
- Road transport to fulfil the course programme.
- All group climbing equipment, such as ropes and other technical equipment.
- Harness and helmet, when booked in advance.
What the price does not include
- Transport to Sheffield.
- Lunch and evening meals.
- Clothing, rucksack.
- Mountaineering and travel Insurance
